Descanso Beauty
While visiting Descanso Gardens in Flintridge, California, I helped my co-host and friend, John Bagnasco collect cuttings from their rose garden. He had received permission in order to propagate them for this year's annual Coastal Rose Society auction. As he clipped, I placed the cuttings in baggies and labeled them. We were in a floriferous wonderland, but one rose bush caught my eye. It bore a myriad of stately, tall-legged hybrid tea flowers with coral red edges, blending into red and creamy-white centers. John tells me 'Tan Cho' is one of his favorite roses and now it is my favorite rose, until another beauty comes along. Ah, the allure of roses.
