Bruce and I just returned from a week-long cruise along the coast of the Baja California peninsula, the 775-mile long land mass in northwestern Mexico that separates the Pacific Ocean on the west from the Sea of Cortez on the east with port visits to Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. The trip was to celebrate our son and daughter-in-law's 10th wedding anniversary, but cruising was also a wonderful way to exhale all the sources of stress and inhale total relaxation.
In less than 24 hours, the tropical beauty of coastal Mexico, the warm hospitality of the ship's crew, spending precious time with family and of course, the gourmet meals quickly dissipated all tensions and allowed us to sleep like babies with the gentle rocking motion of the ship. Port visits such as Cabo San Lucas were spent sight-seeing, luxuriating in the sun and taking dips into the warmth of ocean waters or exquisite pools. Our Labor Day holiday is over, but lingering memories of swaying palm trees, tropical flowers mixed with the fragrance of the sea is allowing us to face the "real world" with a bit more balance.
