Mighty 'Matos for Olivewood Gardens
Chrissy and John Walton, part of the Wal-Mart founding family lived for several years in National City, California. When the family moved, they decided to donate their home in order to help create Olivewood Gardens and Learning Center, a place where the local community of children and adults could gain an appreciation of nature and learn practical skills like nurturing living things in the garden, harvesting and cooking the homegrown ingredients. It has become a very special place for me to visit as well as to support. GardenLife had an overage of Mighty 'Matos and we knew they would be much appreciated at Olivewood. So this week I was able to introduce my daughter Tasia and granddaughter Emiko to this magical place as well as donate the tomato plants to Olivewood's executive director Amy Carstensen. Volunteering and/or donating to a community garden such as Olivewood is personally rewarding and helps make an important contribution to future gardeners, young and old. For more information about Olivewood, visit their website at www.olivewoodgardens.org. Please consider volunteering or donating to your local community garden! It is a worthy legacy that you can pass on to future gardeners.
