Mighty 'Matos Live Up to Their Name
Despite May grey and June gloom, my Might 'Mato grafted tomato plants are growing to gargantuan proportions. When I first planted them about 6 weeks ago, they came from little 4-inch pots into a new raised bed Bruce had built for me. Already, they have lived up to the Mighty 'Mato name towering over my ungrafted tomatoes with stems like tree trunks! Since planting them I have pruned off some of the lush foliage at the base of the plants, fertilized once with Milorganite and sprayed the foliage with Nature Solution's Sea Kelp. They are all flowering and forming fruit and I know in a couple of weeks, there will be enough tomatoes for us as well as our neighbors and friends. The tallest tomato plant that is pictured next to me is a double-grafted Orange and Black Icicle. Summer's harvest will be prolific and oh-so-sweet this year thanks to the Mighty 'Mato!
