Holiday Spirit

Last Sunday, Natalie Bovis aka "The Liquid Muse" shared a wonderful recipe from her latest book, "Edible Cocktails." For those of you who missed her talk, visit last Sunday's archived show. She has based her book on the premise that just like our home-cooked recipes, cocktails require the freshest, most eco-friendly ingredients grown in our gardens or purchased at the local farmer's market. Here is her luscious recipe for Lavender Gin Sour. Serve some holiday spirit for friends and for yourself. Cheers!

Lavender Gin Sour:
3/4 ounce lavender syrup
3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
1 3/4 ounce dry gin
Garnish: lavender sugar rim (lavender and sugar ground finely in a coffee grinder)

Lavender Syrup:
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup lavender buds
1 cup water
Bring all ingredients to a boil, stirring often. Once sugar is diluted, let simmer on low for 5 minutes. Strain and store in a clean, glass bottle.
