Candy Manners is a Dish!

I have several grafted hibiscus planted along a partially shaded bank just outside my back door. The advantage of many of the grafted hibiscus varieties is that they do not need full sun and mine have actually bloomed better in semi-shade. 'Candy Manners' produces large 7-8- inch, blossoms practically year-round. Vividly tinted in bright pink and red, its pure white spotting changes with the season - from large alabaster splotches in the summer to more demure streaks in the winter - and provides a snowy contrast to the sunnier pinks and reds. I have also noticed that the cooler temperatures encourages 'Candy Manners' to produce even larger blossoms compared to her summer sisters. Instead of politely retreating, she prefers to produce bodacious blossoms, the size of my plates perhaps in contempt of or in the face of Old Man Winter. Just as December quickly approaches, I can always count on 'Candy Manners' to boldly welcome the holidays.
