Peach, Apricot and Plum, Oh My!

Although the tree won't be available for sale until 2011, Dave Wilson Nursery sent me some oh-so-pretty and delectable 'Bella Gold' Peacotum (rhymes with "bottom") fruits. Partnering with Zaiger Genetics, they have been working on this hybrid between a peach, apricot and plum for 30 years and the taste is definitely worth the years of effort - it is golden yellow, blushed with red and has the slight fuzziness of a peach. The texture is similar to an apricot and the taste is like biting into a juicy peach, apricot and plum fruit cocktail-so sweet and delicious! Typically, Peacotums bear in June so it will be one of the first fruits of summer! Go to www.davewilson.com for information about its retail availability in 2011.
